So, I was looking around the internet to see if there were any shows worth seeing around UVM in the next couple months and I found that Comeback Kid is coming through Higher Ground with Set Your Goals. I got pumped. But then I thought, "Hey, what have they been up to? I wonder if they put out a new CD." and I looked into it. Turns out that they did, and I listened to about half of it. Now I'm not pumped anymore.
Now, I should have seen this coming. Turn It Around was better than Wake The Dead. Wake The Dead was better than Broadcasting. And then they put out a live album (which I figured was an attempt to get off Victory, because that seems to be how bands get off). But this is still a shock to me. Broadcasting... still sounded like Comeback Kid just different, but this sounds like a totally different band altogether, a shitty, shitty band. And I'm mad at music right now.
It seems like things like this just keep happening. Almost every band I've ever really cared about has either broken up, fallen off the face of the Earth (I'm still waiting for Circle Takes The Square and GlassJaw to put out new albums), or just gone to complete shit. It really bums me out. I'm really unsure if I actually listen to any current bands that other people care about.
Lesson learned: Don't invest yourself into any bands ever, or they will write a shitty album, stop playing their old stuff live and break up.
